Renewable energy monitoring is a system-integration task
Renewable energy installations contain equipment that produces electrical, thermal and mechanical measurements. A monitoring system connects those signals to a defined operating question. Custom electronics and edge AI can be considered for local acquisition, filtering and event reporting where the installation makes a standard device difficult to integrate.
The examples below describe possible monitoring applications. They are not statements that Alvexis builds power plants or has deployed these systems at a named customer site.
Biomass plant monitoring: motors, pumps and temperature
Biomass facilities can contain rotating equipment, material-handling machinery and thermal processes. A proposed monitoring pilot might correlate a motor’s vibration with load and temperature, or report a recurring condition to an operator. Start with one asset and a defined response rather than attempting a plant-wide prediction from unverified signals.
Wind turbines and remote rotating equipment
Wind turbines present changing loads, difficult access and exposure to the environment. A monitoring concept needs suitable mounting, reliable timestamps and a power and communication plan. Data should preserve operating context so that normal changes in speed or load are not mistaken for deterioration.
Thermal inspection in a solar power plant
Thermal imaging can support inspection questions in solar photovoltaics and electrical equipment when the viewing conditions and measurement limits are understood. Define the target, distance, surface properties and comparison method. A thermal pattern is evidence to investigate; it is not automatically a diagnosis of the underlying cause.
Geothermal equipment and connected field assets
Geothermal energy systems also have pumps, motors and process measurements that may benefit from a scoped monitoring design. Temperature, humidity, cabling and the intended mounting location affect enclosure and electronics choices. A local device should have a defined response to missing data and communication outages.
Specify the pilot before the platform
Choose the asset, the measurement and the action an operator would take. Record the baseline operating states, available interfaces, installation constraints and acceptance test. Alvexis can then evaluate the custom acquisition hardware, embedded processing and field communications. This keeps energy monitoring tied to a measurable operational requirement.
